We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dedicated and professional Secretary to join our expanding Family Legal Aid Department. In this pivotal role, you will support our fee earners by:

  • Assisting with Drafting Legal Documents: You will be involved in the preparation and drafting of essential legal documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
  • Taking Initial Instructions and Client Statements: You will act as a crucial point of contact for clients, gathering initial instructions and detailed statements to support case preparations.
  • Collating Court Bundles: Your role will involve organising and collating comprehensive court bundles, which are vital for the smooth running of our cases.
  • Maintaining Discretion and Confidentiality: You will handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion, adhering to all relevant legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Providing Reception Cover: As needed, you will also provide regular reception cover, greeting clients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role will possess:

  • Strong Prioritising Skills: You should be able to effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and meet strict deadlines.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: You must remain calm and efficient under pressure, ensuring high-quality work output even in demanding situations.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as you will interact with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders regularly.
  • Proficiency in IT: Competence with various IT tools and software is crucial for document preparation, communication, and case management.

  • Good Work Ethic: A proactive and dedicated approach to your work, with a willingness to take on a variety of tasks and go the extra mile when needed.
  • Flexibility: The ability to occasionally work outside of core hours is important to meet the demands of the role and support the team effectively.
